How it works!
- Touge battle is a race against yourself, the clock and another driver a few seconds either in front of you or behind you.
- Vehicles are classified into 2 main groups, Street and Race. More about the distinction of these 2 in the Race Ready Page.
- After cars are separated into Street or Race, they are then further classified by their engine displacement and engine modifications. We have a scrutineer who inspects all vehicles upon entry and assigns them to their proper class.
- Morning practice and qualifying sessions will be held to give the drivers a chance to familiarize themselves with the track layout and for the organizers to arrange the match ups for the battle rounds
- Based on the classes and qualifying sessions, drivers will be paired up against each other in order of the fastest time vs the slowest time. This sort of match up rewards the faster drivers and gives them a better chance of becoming the overall winner in their class. This format also eliminates the desire to sandbag or purposely slow down. Basically the slower you go, the faster your opponent will be.
- Drivers will have a chance to be both in the lead and chase position.
- In battle stages, the lead driver is released and then the chase driver is released after 4 seconds. To win a round. the lead driver must extend the gap to 4.05 seconds or the chase driver needs to close the gap to 3.95 seconds. Only a .05 second change in time is required to win or lose a battle.
- Drivers switch positions for the second round. In case both drivers win one round each, a third round will be promoted to get the final decision.
- It will be a knockout system until the final driver is determined victor in his class
- Overtaking is not allowed. If you unescessarily overtake your opponent, which puts both drivers and cars at risk of damage. The officials will disqualify the driver that committed the overtaking maneuver.
- Points are awarded to the top 5 per category. Through the point system is how we determine the overall winners per class
- If the driver joins different classes in different races, he will be awarded points only for the class he raced in.
- NOTE** Touge Battle encourages first timers to join. For first time track runners, we offer basic circuit lessons in the morning before the start of the drivers briefing
